In-person media accreditation can be requested here. Please note, to ensure the orderly management of media accreditation, journalists must register by 15th September 2026. On-site media accreditation will not be available. Only journalists who have completed the accreditation process and received confirmation from the Secretariat will be granted access to the Conference and media facilities. Freelancers must provide a valid assignment letter. Double accreditation (e.g. as both media and a delegate) is not permitted.
Accredited media representatives will have access to designated media facilities and events during the Conference, including press conferences and media briefings.

Why it matters:
The 2026 United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP 17, CP-MOP 12, and NP-MOP 6) will bring together Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, and the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing to negotiate and adopt decisions that will shape international biodiversity policy and implementation in the years ahead.
At COP 15 in Montreal in 2022, Parties adopted the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), establishing four global goals for 2050 and 23 targets for 2030 to halt and reverse biodiversity loss. Four years later, the 2026 UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 17) will bring together governments and stakeholders for the first Global Review of collective progress at the midpoint of implementation of the Framework, alongside decisions to strengthen the science-policy interface and advance implementation of the Convention and its protocols.
